Prepare your skin for winter

This September and October saw very little sunshine, and record rainfall, especially in Tokyo. Many rainy days meant a moist environment, so it could be said that the weather was a plus for skin. Meanwhile, with the autumn travel season upon us, and boosted by the GO TO Travel campaign, people are feeling more and more ready to travel after years of restraint, and the number of domestic tourists is rapidly increasing. But perhaps the weather wasn't ideal for travel?
November... The weather is settling down, the autumn leaves from the north are in full bloom in various places, and we can expect many sunny days that are typical of autumn, but the temperature difference between mornings and evenings is drastic, and some days feel like winter. This is an important time to switch to skin care in preparation for the onset of winter. In this article, we will provide you with some tips on "preparing for winter skin care in preparation for the onset of winter".

Skin conditions in November: Temperatures plummet and humidity continues to decrease

According to weather data from Tokyo last year (2019), the average temperature and humidity in November were -6.3°C and -11% lower than in October. Temperatures continue to plummet, with some days feeling as cold as mid-winter. Humidity also continues to decrease, and the skin environment is heading straight for winter. As humidity decreases, the skin condition begins to become dry, but at the same time, the amount of sebum secreted also decreases, and the oil required for the skin also decreases.

In other words, the dry state of skin with reduced moisture and oil content weakens the skin's own barrier function, causing skin problems before the winter season arrives, which can lead to skin that is unable to withstand the winter environment.

Cleansing and washing your face to remove dead skin cells will also help to strengthen your moisturizing care

It is said that beautiful skin starts with cleansing and washing your face. Even if you use lotions, beauty serums, sheet masks, milky lotions, and creams, you will not be able to fully utilize their beauty effects unless your skin is polished with cleansing and washing your face. In particular, before the harsh winter arrives, cleansing and washing your face with an emphasis on exfoliating will help maintain healthy keratin metabolism and improve the strength of your skin.

We recommend emulsion-type cleansers!
The dirt on the skin, including sebum, makeup, and dirt from the air, is oily. Dissolving oil thoroughly in water is called emulsification, and Axesia believes that cleansing that lifts dirt and emulsifies it on the surface of the skin, rather than scrubbing it off, is a cleansing method that is gentle on the skin.
Start with the T-zone, which is prone to oil production, then move to the U-zone, then around the eyes, and finally work your way to lift and emulsify dirt from the entire face. Choose a cleansing product that contains moisturizing ingredients that can provide moisturizing care while cleansing.

In general, oil-based cleansers have stronger cleansing power than milk-based cleansers, but they can also remove necessary sebum, so people with dry skin and low levels of sebum should be especially careful not to rub too hard when cleansing.

Facial cleansing: A facial cleanser that gently washes away dirt with its foaming power
We recommend a facial cleanser that produces fine, good bubbles. Like laundry detergent, the foaming power when the bubbles pop will re-approach the dirt inside the stratum corneum. It is less harsh on the skin than chemical cleansing ingredients, and the foaming power washes thoroughly, washing away dirt that has been lifted and emulsified by cleansing. If you are concerned about clogged pores, acne, oily skin, or pores, leave the foam pack on for about a minute, then wash by rolling the foam over your face, and rinse with lukewarm water or water. For acne on the body, such as the décolleté and back, we recommend washing with a foam pack for about 5 minutes.

As part of your skin care routine to prepare for winter, be sure to focus on cleansing and washing your face with an exfoliating focus!
