As the summer of 2022 arrives, reset the accumulated fatigue of your summer skin!

Although August is the height of summer, August 7th is the beginning of autumn according to the calendar, and from this day onwards seasonal greetings change from "summer greetings" to "late summer greetings". As the scorching heat is expected to continue, the image of "the beginning of autumn" does not come to mind, but we will give you some skin care tips to prevent summer fatigue.

With summer in full swing starting in July, your skin is bound to feel tired after the summer!

This year, the rainy season ended in June across most of the country, and we suddenly entered a heatwave. Summer has been in full swing since July, with extremely hot days being observed every day in many places. If the harsh summer environment continues for such a long period of time, your skin will become fatigued and summer fatigue will accumulate. "Sweating," "sebum," "air conditioning," "ultraviolet rays"...these risk factors cause skin problems that can be described as summer fatigue.

Skin care to combat summer fatigue

Point 1. Protect your skin from sweat and sebum
Sweating in the summer can cause dehydration in your skin, just as it can in your body. Sweat is a bodily fluid, so you lose not only water but also salt and minerals. Even if your face is sticky with sweat, your insides are dry. Waste products and sebum excreted with sweat can clog pores, causing acne, dullness, and even disruptions to your skin's metabolism.
It is important to incorporate cleansing and washing your face, which is something that is usually only done at night, into your skincare routine, morning and night, to thoroughly remove dirt caused by sweat and sebum.

Morning: Removes dirt caused by sweating and sebum secretion while sleeping. Evening: Removes triple dirt caused by makeup, sweating and sebum secretion.

After washing your face, choose a lotion that contains moisturizing ingredients, and apply a generous amount to your skin more than usual.

Point 2. Replenish moisture and prevent dryness in the summer!
Moisturizing is often thought of as skin care that should be strengthened in the winter, but it is now known that sweating causes dryness inside the skin, air conditioning causes dryness on the surface of the skin, and ultraviolet rays are also factors that cause dry skin. In other words, moisturizing care is necessary to deal with the triple dry environment that is unique to summer. Choose moisturizing products that contain ingredients that thoroughly replenish moisture while reducing the amount of moisture that evaporates from the skin and retain it, and don't neglect to use sunscreen frequently. Take summer dryness into consideration when working on skin care.

Point 3. Continue to take proper measures against sunlight
The amount of sunlight that pours down is proportional to the number of daylight hours. In Japan, the peak would normally be around the summer solstice in June, but due to the rainy season, there are fewer sunny days, and statistically, May, July, and August are the months with the most sunlight. UV-B rays, which directly cause sunburn, account for about 5% of the total UV rays, while UV-A rays, which make up the remaining 95%, reach the dermis and also affect skin aging. In addition, the blue light and near-infrared rays contained in sunlight also affect the skin.
It has become clear that the accumulation of these solar stressors not only causes sunburn, but also contributes to skin aging such as age spots, wrinkles, and sagging skin.
These sun protection products that effectively block out sunlight are must-have items during this time of year, as a makeup base before going out during the day.

Point 4: Reset care for summer fatigued skin
After bathing, warm up your face by wrapping it in a steam towel (you can also use a towel wrung out with hot water). Not only will this have a refreshing effect, but warming your skin will also improve blood flow and help subsequent skin care products penetrate better.
We also recommend face masks as a special treatment. Try resetting tired skin with a cool sheet chilled in the refrigerator. Too much cooling is not good, so a face mask chilled in the vegetable compartment is appropriate. Cooling packs not only tighten the skin, but also promote the penetration of beauty ingredients and have a refreshing effect.

How to use your air conditioner wisely to ensure a good night's sleep

Quality sleep (good sleep) is essential for both health and beautiful skin. Use your air conditioner wisely, fall asleep easily, and wake up feeling refreshed with this beauty sleep program.

- Set the temperature to 28°C. If your air conditioner allows you to set the temperature even in dehumidification mode, set it to 28°C.
Too much cooling can cause air conditioning sickness and dry skin.

- One hour before going to bed, first cool down the room and prepare the environment for falling asleep.

Set the timer to stop the air conditioner one hour before you wake up. By raising your body temperature before you wake up, you can eliminate fatigue caused by the cold when you wake up and relieve stress caused by the difference in temperature between inside and outside after waking up, leading to a refreshed awakening.

- Once you start to fall asleep more easily and wake up feeling refreshed, aim to turn off your air conditioner three hours after you go to bed.

・Even if you use an electric fan, cool the room with the air conditioner at least one hour before going to bed. Use the fan indirectly, not directly on your body. Direct airflow can strip moisture from your body and skin.

When you wake up, open the curtains and let the sunlight in to wake you up, which can be very effective in helping you wake up refreshed.

We are now in the midst of a long summer. We have brought you some skin care tips to combat summer fatigue.
