A look back at my skin condition in 2020

Before we know it, December is here... In a normal December, there would be a lot of big events, such as year-end parties, Christmas, and the New Year holidays. However, with the third wave of COVID-19 on the way, this December may be a quiet one, with masks worn, crowds avoided, and a mood of self-restraint. Has the new COVID-19 lifestyle, which began in earnest in late March, affected the condition of your skin? In this article, we will look back on the skin environment in December and the condition of your skin over the past year.

Skin condition in December

The keywords for skin environment in December are "dryness" and "decreased metabolism."
Decreased humidity and increased moisture loss from the skin
In December, humidity continues to decrease towards the peak of the dry season in January and February, and the amount of water evaporated from the skin continues to increase, causing the skin itself to become increasingly dry.

Heating further reduces humidity
In December, when heating is in full swing, the humidity outside is around 50%, but the humidity inside a heated room drops to about half that amount, making the room even more dry.

Metabolism slows
Just like plants and animals, humans also store energy during winter. Cells choose to rest rather than regenerate through metabolism, and metabolism and blood flow tend to slow down.

A look back at skin conditions in 2020

Since the latter half of March, we have been living in a new way with COVID-19. Whether you work from home or go to work, have a regular job, or are a full-time housewife, your lifestyle has probably changed significantly. Changes in lifestyle can also affect your skin.
Reflect on your lifestyle and changes in your skin condition over the past year.
How is your skin doing this year?
If you feel that your skin is in good health, then your daily skin care routine and lifestyle are perfect. Don't let your guard down, and continue your current lifestyle and skin care routine!

If you feel that this year has been full of memories of outdoor activities and sports, you may not only be suffering from dullness and blemishes caused by sunburn, but also from photoaging caused by UVA rays and near-infrared rays. Treat your skin with an anti-aging serum that provides moisture while also improving firmness and radiance.

●If you feel your skin is dry even in summer due to the effects of air-conditioned environments, you may be carrying over the summer dryness. Be sure to take good care of your skin with moisturizing care in winter. In addition to moisturizing your face, be sure to also moisturize your body.

●If you've been concerned about signs of aging (wrinkles, sagging skin, dullness, stiffness, etc.) over the past year, it's important to aim for healthy skin tone while promoting normal cell turnover. Be sure to focus on using anti-aging products that provide plenty of moisture and aim for plump, firm skin.

December is the month when the dry season really kicks in. When the skin becomes rough, mainly due to dryness, the barrier function of the skin weakens.
Choose a facial cleanser and a moisturizing lotion, and when cleansing and washing your face, try to gently roll your face to reduce the burden on your skin. Also, since the areas around the eyes and mouth are delicate and prone to dryness, it is recommended to use special cosmetics to care for these areas.

Look back on the condition of your skin over the past year and consider the skin care that is right for you.
Next time, I would like to give you some tips for your new year's skin care plan!
